David Park just returned from an epicurean journey of a lifetime. He not only enjoyed tastings at Bordeaux's most celebrated wine chateaux, but also enjoyed the finest cuisine and hotels that France has to offer.

David Park likes to stay busy.
Besides his day-to-day job as the Utah Symphony’s assistant concertmaster, Park enjoys a lively concert schedule both within Utah and out of state. Just last November, Park appeared with the Roanoke Symphony under David Wiley, playing Mendelssohn’s popular Violin Concerto to critical acclaim.
Closer to home, Park will be the featured guest artist on Classical 89’s Highway 89 program. Airing this Tuesday at 8 p.m. (with a repeat at 5 p.m. on March 31), Park will honor J.S. Bach on the occasion of the great German baroque composer’s 333rd birthday with a performance of the Partita No. 1 in B minor for solo violin, BWV 1002.

David Park has just finished a very successful appearance as a guest soloist with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra in Virginia. He played one of his favorite pieces, the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E minor. As an encore, he performed the Fugue from the rarely heard Solo Violin Sonata of Bartok.

David Park, the Utah Symphony’s assistant concertmaster, will be making his solo debut later this month with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, one of the premier orchestras in Virginia. He’ll be performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto under maestro David Stewart Wiley. The concerts will take place on November 18 at 7:30 p.m. and November 19 at 3:00 p.m. in the Jefferson Center. Also on the program will be the RSO premiere of David Winkler’s “Forza Vita;” the Scherzo from Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream;” and Mozart’s Symphony No 25 in G minor.
Mercedes Benz of Roanoke will host a reception for Park to welcome him as the Mercedes Benz Cultural Ambassador. Mercedes Benz of Salt Lake City, along with KBYU, was a co-sponsor of his debut CD, which received the Global Music Award in 2016.
Also, since Mendelssohn was heavily influenced by Bach and was a major part of the revival of Bach’s music during his time, Park will pay tribute to Bach in 2018, on his 333rd birthday, by playing the complete Bach three fugues live on Classical 89.

David Park's debut CD, Violin Meditations, which music critic Edward Reichel awarded four out of four stars, calling it "an absolutely captivating CD...and impressive artistry on display," was the recipient of the coveted Global Music Award. For his first recording, Mr. Park offers a wide variety of some of the most beautiful melodies written for the violin, in which two of the tracks are featured in the soundtrack of the Sundance movie, The Strongest Man, where he also made his acting debut.

Player: David Park is the assistant concertmaster of the Utah Symphony. The Juilliard-trained musician also is an adjunct professor of violin at the University of Utah and an enthusiast of wines from the Bordeaux region of France. His recent debut solo CD is titled Violin Meditations.
Instrument" 1850 Antonio Guadagnini, strung with Thomastik Dominant A, D, and G, with Jargar E. I've tried few brands [of strings], but this seems to have a nice cohesion.
Condition: The violin has a deep burgundy varnish with striking flames in the back.
